Josiah-Jordan James, a guard from Tennessee, will sign an Exhibit 10 contract with the Pacers, as reported by Mike Wilson of The Knoxville News Sentinel (via Twitter). Wilson continues, “He will be a member of Indiana’s Summer League team and will have the opportunity to earn a two-way roster spot.”
James, a senior in his fifth year, played in 144 games for the Volunteers. For the second time in the program’s history, he assisted Tennessee in making it to the Elite Eight this year.
The 23-year-old played in 36 games this season, scoring 46.3% of his points from the field and 34.1% from three-point range while averaging 8.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 29.2 minutes per night.
A non-guaranteed minimum-salary contract known as an Exhibit 10 contract does not count against a team’s cap unless the player is added to the roster for the regular season. Before the season starts, it can be turned into a two-way contract. Alternatively, it can make a player eligible for a bonus if he is waived and subsequently plays for his team’s G League affiliate for at least sixty days.
